For 25 years, 17 albums and 2500 live shows, Carbon Leaf’s independent spirit continues to resonate with it’s fans, young and old.

Pulling from folk, Americana, roots and rock traditions, the Virginia quintet’s lively sound features vocal harmony, acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bass, drums, cello, banjo, penny whistle, pedal steel, accordion and whatever else can be placed onto the stage.

The group’s current project is a 4-part series called Gathering, and centers on life and death; love and loss; heartbreak, loneliness and landscape and, ultimately, the need for community, gathering and human connection.

Carbon Leaf’s music is independently written, recorded and produced from the band’s studio in Richmond, VA.

My goal in music is for you to feel it, to relate to it and establish an understanding through the story all while being memorable. Laugh, cry, go hard and rap, contemplate past memories, sing at the top of your lungs, enjoy your dang day. I want my music to create moments, and for those moments to become memories.” - Chelsea
That’s the driving force behind the music of Chelsea Locklear. She wants to bridge gaps with her lyrics and be able to start a conversation with every listener. Chelsea writes and performs her music with the audience in mind, thriving in performances that are interactive. Her songs are crafted so that the hooks are memorable and can create moments.

The journey from her birthplace of Norfolk Virginia to her current residence in Charlotte North Carolina has prepared her for a strong live presence. Ever since her childhood, she has been imitating whatever noises caught her ear, and in that process music won her heart.

Chelsea has taught herself many musical instruments including guitar, drums, bass, keyboard, tuba and trumpet. You will even catch her beatboxing on her upcoming album. She has also learned the ropes in the studio producing her own material. Her music is a fusion of pop, jazz and even hip hop influences. Chelsea’s debut CD "Lost in Thought" is now on all music websites. Stay tuned for her debut Album dropping in August.! You will not want to miss this.
